Geodesign Review - Enhancing Stakeholder Engagement

Penn State geodesign faculty Kelleann Foster and Dr. Lisa A. McElvaney spoke at the first Geodesign Summit in Europe in September of 2013. Their presentation, titled "Enhancing Stakeholder Engagement: Understanding Organizational Change Principles for Geodesign Professionals" was very well received. 3D Visualization World attended the conference and said the following about the talk:

Kelleann And Lisa... "gave one of the most enlightening presentations of this event.

McElvaney, an organizational development and change consultant, spoke about some of the human behaviour factors that relate to participation in and resistance to change. GeoDesign is meant to involve the community, and to improve stakeholder confidence in the project itself, recognizing values and keeping participants engaged.

They articulated the notion that to increase stakeholder representation and support for change, a key strategy is to identify and involve influential community leaders early in the GeoDesign process. "Leaders will then communicate the value of GeoDesign to their followers," they pointed out."

Kelleann Foster will be giving a lightening talk at the 2014 Geodesign Summit entitled: "Is it design? How geodesign compares with other design theories." The talk will be on Thursday between 1:30 - 3:00PM (PST).
